About Jen

I was the nanny. Now I find them.

Hi, I’m Jen Russo, founder of Faith-Based Nannies. Before I ever placed a nanny, I was one, for more than 15 years.

My story

I didn’t plan to spend 15 years as a nanny. I planned to love the children in front of me and do the job well. Somewhere along the way, I realized the job was much bigger than I thought.

The children I cared for didn’t just ask me for snacks or help with their shoes. They asked me about God. They asked me why people get sick and why prayers don’t always get answered the way we hope. They asked me what was right and what was wrong, and they watched closely to see whether my answers matched how I lived.

That is when it became clear to me: a nanny is not a babysitter. She is one of the most influential adults in a child’s early life. And in the hours a parent isn’t home, she is either building on the foundation that family is laying, or she is quietly working against it.

I have seen both. I have watched children flourish with a caregiver who prayed with them, spoke about Jesus naturally, and lived with integrity. I have also seen the confusion that sets in when the person at home all day believes something different from what the family believes, or believes nothing at all. Kids notice. They always notice.

Why I started Faith-Based Nannies

When I moved into recruiting and care management, I saw the other side of the industry: how agencies screen, how they match, and what they miss. Most agencies match on schedule, experience, and a clean background check. Faith and character, if they come up at all, are a footnote.

For a Christian family, that is backwards. Faith is the foundation, not a footnote.

So I built the agency I wished had existed when I was in those homes. An agency where every nanny is hand-selected, personally interviewed by me, and screened for the things that actually matter once the door closes: her faith, her character, and how she lives.

What I believe about this work

  • Your children are a gift from God, and the people you invite into their lives should treat them that way.
  • Faith does not replace diligence. Every nanny I place is background-checked, reference-checked, and certified, no exceptions.
  • Healthy habits are part of discipleship. How a child eats, moves, rests, and plays shapes the person they become.
  • Character shows up in the small moments. I hire for the moments no one is watching.

"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward."

Psalm 127:3
